How Your Resting Metabolism Varies Over 12 Weeks
Part of Hormones & metabolism clinical trials.
This research study measures how your body's metabolism (the rate you burn calories at rest) changes day-to-day and week-to-week over 3 months. Understanding this natural variation may help doctors better interpret metabolism tests in the future.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.

This study measures how fast your body burns calories at rest and compares it between parents and their adult children. Researchers want to understand if metabolism runs in families and what factors influence it.
This study tests if you can measure your resting metabolic rate at home using a portable device. It will help researchers understand if this is easy and acceptable for people to do on their own.
This study measures how many calories your body burns at rest (resting energy expenditure) in healthy women after menopause who are starting menopausal hormone therapy. It will help doctors understand how hormone therapy affects your metabolism.
This study looks at how a period of fasting changes the amount of energy your body burns at rest. It may help explain why fasting can affect weight and health.
This study tests whether drinking hydrogen-rich water can affect your body's resting metabolism—how many calories you burn at rest. Healthy young adults drink either hydrogen water or a placebo and have their metabolism measured.
This natural history study follows people to understand how metabolism and body composition vary in health and disease. It may help researchers better measure metabolic changes and understand who is at risk as health and treatments change.
