Caudal block for reducing fistula after hypospadias repair

Who can take part

  • Your child must be male and between 6 months and 5 years old (60 months).
  • Your child must have distal hypospadias (urethral opening near the tip of the penis).
  • Your child is scheduled for first-time hypospadias repair surgery.
  • Your child must not have any bleeding disorders, diabetes, or be on steroid therapy.
  • Your child must have no skin infections on the lower back (where the injection would be given) and no known allergy to numbing medicines like bupivacaine.
