Who can take part

  • You are pregnant with your first baby (nulliparous).
  • You have a high-risk pregnancy condition (like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, or placenta previa).
  • You are at full term (37 to 42 weeks along).
  • You are having a planned cesarean section (C-section).
  • You do not have a psychiatric disorder, are not taking corticosteroid medication, do not have an endocrine disorder affecting cortisol, and have no active mouth sores or ulcers.
