- You are 18 years or older
- You have been diagnosed with squamous cell cancer of the mouth (the part inside your lips and cheeks, not the throat)
- Your cancer has not spread to other parts of your body (no distant metastasis)
- You have not yet started any treatment for this cancer (like surgery, radiation, chemo, or immunotherapy)
- You can give a saliva sample using a swab before starting treatment
