Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have a head and neck cancer that has not spread to other parts of the body
- You have already had radiation therapy, with or without chemotherapy
- You have been diagnosed with painful mouth sores caused by radiation (called radiation-induced oral mucositis)
- You are generally able to care for yourself and are not bedridden (ECOG score 0-2)
- You have not had other serious illnesses, are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have no history of drug or alcohol abuse
