  • You have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer that has not spread beyond the chest and have not yet received any treatment for it.
  • You are generally healthy enough for surgery, with no major heart, lung, or bleeding problems.
  • Your blood counts and liver/kidney function are within acceptable ranges.
  • You have not had chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy for this cancer before.
  • You are willing to use effective birth control during the study and for 6 months after, if applicable.
