Who can take part
- Have Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or another form of IBD (ongoing inflammation in the gut) — or symptoms suggesting it, or a genetic condition linked to IBD
- Be between 0 and 75 years old (rules vary by age and whether you visit the NIH center or mail in samples)
- Be willing to give blood and/or undergo endoscopy (a camera exam of the gut) with small tissue samples taken for research
- Have blood test results in a safe range if you'll have biopsies (healthy blood counts and normal clotting)
- Healthy volunteers must be 18 or older with no history of IBD and no active infection needing antibiotics
