Who can take part
- Be a healthy person (adults 18–80 or children 5–17) and able to give consent/follow instructions
- Have normal hearing based on specific hearing test results (no significant hearing loss by the study thresholds)
- Have normal middle-ear function based on an ear test called a 226 Hz tympanogram
- For balance/vestibular sessions, avoid caffeine and alcohol for 48 hours beforehand
- Be able to stop (with study approval) medicines that could change balance test results for 48 hours before sessions
- Have no history of inner ear problems, ear infections that keep coming back, or ear surgery (except certain ear tubes)
