Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and are currently hospitalized
- You have moderate-or-worse heart valve disease on an ultrasound (echocardiogram), OR you previously had a heart valve procedure, OR you have an infection of the heart lining (endocarditis)
- You can be contacted and followed up for the study (they must be able to track you over time)
- You are not in a “critical condition” where doctors think you may die within a year
- You have not already been enrolled in this same study
