  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have AML and be scheduled for intensive treatment (first induction, then additional intensive consolidation treatments) that is expected to cause low white blood cell counts and high infection risk
  • Be able to give informed consent (agree to join the study)
  • Have social security coverage
  • Not be pregnant
  • Not have acute promyelocytic leukemia, HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C; and not be under court/administrative guardianship or deprived of freedom
