This early-phase trial compares zinc oxide ointment versus petroleum jelly to help healing and scar appearance after certain skin surgeries. You might be able to join if you are having a suitable, uninfected, non-scalp skin incision and can use the study ointment.

Who can take part

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a straight (linear) skin incision on a non-scalp area
  • Your incision/closure must be at least 4.5 cm long
  • The incision should look fairly even from one end to the other (not obviously lopsided)
  • The surgical site must not look infected
  • You must not have a known allergy to zinc oxide (zinc ointment)
