This Phase 2 study tests a preventive “cell therapy” made from a donor’s immune cells to lower the risk of CMV infection after a haploidentical stem cell transplant. If you’re at risk for CMV, this may help protect you during the early post-transplant period.

Who can take part

  • You are an adult who had a haploidentical (half-matched) stem cell transplant from a donor
  • The donor must test positive for CMV, and the donor must not have an active infection around the cell collection time
  • Your blood counts must be starting to recover after transplant (neutrophils above a certain level for at least 3 check times)
  • You cannot be on steroid medicines at the time of the planned cell infusion (for example, about 0.5 mg/kg/day prednisone or equivalent)
  • You must not have serious ongoing illness issues: very poor activity level, severe organ side effects, uncontrolled or unresolved infection, or persistent fevers just before infusion
  • You must not have moderate-to-severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a relapse before infusion, or a new CMV infection/reactivation before infusion
