Growth-limiting leg surgery for very tall teens

Who can take part

  • You are a teen (roughly ages 8–16 depending on whether you’re a boy or a girl)
  • Your height issue is considered “very tall” and not caused by a treatable medical problem
  • You’ve started puberty (Tanner stage about 2 or 3+ depending on sex)
  • Your growth plates are expected to still allow significant leg growth (doctor estimates at least about 8 cm of remaining growth)
  • You and your parent/guardian agree to the growth-limiting surgery and to join the study
  • You do not have medical or psychological reasons that would make surgery unsafe or unlikely to be appropriate

8-plate surgery study for pediatric knock-knees after correction
