Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- Your recurrence is in one area of the same breast (one main spot), not multiple areas
- The recurrence is small (under about 2–3 cm) and does not involve the skin
- Pathology confirms the cancer type (invasive cancer or carcinoma in situ), and the surgery margins were negative (no cancer cells at the edges)
- Cancer spread is limited: 0 to 3 positive underarm lymph nodes with no outward growth beyond the node
- The recurrence is at least 12 months after your first breast-sparing surgery plus whole-breast radiation
