Who can take part
- You have never had kidney stones yourself
- No close family member has a history of kidney stones
- You are planning to have bariatric (weight-loss) surgery at the University of Chicago Medicine Bariatric Surgery Center
- Your kidney function is normal (eGFR is 90 or higher)
- You do not have known bladder emptying or urine flow problems
- Your vitamin D level is not severely low (it is 25 ng/mL or higher)
