Who can take part
- You have gastrointestinal cancer and need standard staging/treatment first
- You have major narrowing (>75%) in the portal vein or nearby mesenteric veins (including the SMV)
- This narrowing may be with or without symptoms, for the “any narrowing” pathway
- If you do have symptoms like bleeding from stomach/esophagus veins, stubborn fluid buildup, abdominal pain, swelling in the intestines, or diarrhea, they must not be explained by tumor spread into the vessel or peritoneum
- You may qualify if you have a main portal vein clot/narrowing but did not receive a stent yet (a separate group for this)
