Study of how a fetus develops late in pregnancy

This study looks at how a baby’s organs develop in late pregnancy, using situations where someone is already being evaluated for a possible fetal abnormality and chooses to end the pregnancy. The goal is to better understand late-stage fetal development and related causes of abnormalities.

Who can take part

  • You are pregnant and at least 18 years old
  • You are attending the Fetal Medicine Unit for concerns about a possible fetal abnormality
  • You have decided to proceed with termination of pregnancy
  • Your screening blood/swab tests for certain infections are negative (HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chlamydia, and herpes)
  • You are able to understand the study and make your own informed choice about termination
