Personalized music to reduce agitation after certain surgeries

Who can take part

  • Be between ages 3 and 9 years old
  • Have one of these planned procedures: ear tube surgery (myringotomy), laser treatment for skin lesions, adenoid removal (without tonsil removal), or tonsil removal (with or without adenoids)
  • Not be taking sedating or pain medicines on a daily/regular basis
  • Not have any extra or different surgeries than those listed in the criteria
  • No major surgery or anesthesia problems expected (for example, no invasive breathing tube used during the ear procedure)
  • Be able to hear music well and have a parent report interest in music and ability to pick meaningful music
