Music and Quiet in the Operating Room for Child Surgery

Who can take part

  • Your child is between 3 and 18 years old
  • Surgery is planned in advance (not an emergency) and will last 30 minutes to 4 hours
  • Your child's overall health is good to fair (no serious heart, liver, or kidney problems)
  • Your child can wear headphones or listen to music without problems
  • Your child doesn't have epilepsy, severe hearing loss, or developmental delays that would prevent them from participating
  • Your child is not taking opioids, sedatives, or psychiatric medications regularly
