Who can take part

  • Age 37 to 90
  • Be an FDNY rescue and recovery worker with documented WTC exposure
  • Be male and enrolled in the FDNY World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program
  • Be able to consent and do your daily activities independently, and attend one in-person visit at NYU Langone CTSI (462 1st Avenue)
  • Have spirometry (breathing test) results from within the last 24 months, including at a post-9/11 visit
  • Have WTC-related evidence for one of these: airway reactivity, reflux (GERD), or Barrett’s esophagus—and the study must have your first post-9/11 blood sample in its biorepository
