Fast rehab program for leg injuries and amputations

Lower Limb Trauma

This trial tests a rapid rehabilitation approach for people with certain leg injuries, including amputations and limb salvage, while you are already in standard rehab. It may help improve walking and balance after trauma by using a structured training program.

Who can take part

  • You must be an active-duty service member or a retired veteran
  • You have a leg injury like an amputation (below-knee or above-knee) or limb salvage
  • You must be currently enrolled in usual rehab at a participating military treatment center
  • If you have an amputation, you should be able to walk in the community (K-Level 3 or 4)
  • If limb salvage applies, you must be enrolled in the Return-to-Run training program (IDEO required)
  • You must not have severe pain or other nerve/muscle problems that stop you from doing the training tests
