- You are pregnant and have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes using the UK NICE guideline
- Your treatment includes metformin (either alone or with insulin)
- You do not have type 1 or type 2 diabetes (before pregnancy)
- You do not have a serious pregnancy history that the study considers “bad obstetrics history”
- You do not have certain medical conditions such as systemic lupus (SLE)
- No known fetal (baby) birth defects are present, and you plan to deliver at the study site
