Cryotherapy plus surgery for broken ribs

Pain, PostoperativeRib Fracture Multiple

Part of Pain clinical trials.

This trial tests whether adding cryotherapy (freezing treatment to the injury area) to standard surgery for broken, displaced ribs can improve recovery. It’s for adults with multiple broken ribs who are getting a surgical stabilization procedure soon after injury.

Freezing rib nerves for broken rib pain

This trial tests a procedure called cryoablation, which freezes the nerves between the ribs to relieve pain from broken ribs. It may help you breathe deeper and feel less pain if you have multiple rib fractures and severe pain.

NCT05865327Recruiting
Nerve freezing for rib-fracture pain using ultrasound guidance

This trial tests whether freezing a specific nerve (a “cryoneurolysis” treatment) through a catheter can better control pain from traumatic rib fractures. It’s offered to adults who have rib fractures soon after hospital admission and can use a pain control method called patient-controlled regional analgesia.

NCT06069154Enrolling by invitation
Freezing nerves for rib fracture pain

This study tests a procedure called cryoneurolysis, which uses cold to temporarily freeze nerves near broken ribs to relieve pain. It is for adults who have 1 to 6 recently broken ribs with at least moderate pain and are already getting a nerve block injection.

Surgery for unstable chest wall injuries: how many fractures to fix?

This trial compares different ways to fix unstable chest wall injuries (like broken ribs that move out of place) within 7 days of the injury. The goal is to see how many fractures need to be repaired for the best recovery.

Rib fracture repair with RibFix Titan system

This trial tests a titanium rib fixation system to see how well it stabilizes broken ribs or rib cuts (osteotomies) during healing. It may be an option if you need surgery to fix rib fractures.

Ultrasound-guided pain block for broken ribs

This trial tests an ultrasound-guided nerve pain block (in the serratus anterior area) to help relieve pain from one side of recently broken ribs. If it works well, it may reduce how much IV pain medicine or opioid tablets you need while you recover.
