Genetic study to better assess kids’ unusual skin spots

Who can take part

  • Be 20 years old or younger.
  • You (and your parent/guardian) can sign consent, and you can give assent if asked.
  • Have one or more unusual (atypical) skin lesions that your care plan includes monitoring and/or biopsy or removal within the next 6 months.
  • The lesion to be evaluated should not be on the palms, soles, or inside body linings (mucous areas), and it should be in an area where hair can be trimmed.
  • The spot should not be actively bleeding, ulcerated (open sore), already biopsied, scarred, or a known melanoma spot.
  • The area to be biopsied should not have active psoriasis, eczema, or another skin condition that could interfere with sampling.
