Who can take part

  • Be age 18 or older
  • Be planning surgery to remove a primary lung cancer (including lobar, sublobar, or full lung removal)
  • Your cancer should be non-small cell lung cancer
  • Do not have an active infection or pneumonia at the time of the lung sampling
  • If the surgeon believes collecting bronchial washings (lung fluid) would be too risky or harmful, you may not qualify
