Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes for 0 to 6 years
  • Your body weight is in the overweight or higher range (BMI 27 or above)
  • Your diabetes blood test (HbA1c) is above a set level (43 mmol/mol or higher; 48+ if you are not on diabetes medicine)
  • You must not be taking insulin
  • Your kidneys must be functioning well (eGFR 30 or higher)
  • You must not be pregnant, and you should not have had major heart events or severe heart failure
