Brain and bladder study after sigmoid bladder surgery

Orthotopic Neobladder

This study uses an MRI scan to look at how the brain controls bladder function after you’ve had a sigmoid “neobladder” surgery. You may be able to take part if you’re well enough for MRI and don’t have certain brain, mental health, or urinary conditions.

Who can take part

  • You are right-handed.
  • You are at least 3 months after your sigmoid neobladder surgery.
  • You can safely have an fMRI (special MRI) scan—no MRI contraindications.
  • You are willing and able to sign the consent form.
  • You do not have a history of bladder radiation, prostate cancer, or certain nerve/spinal conditions affecting bladder control.
