Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You are being treated for an open abdomen with a midline incision (the cut runs down the center).
  • You must agree to take part in the study.
  • You should not already have an abdominal wall incisional or ventral hernia of 3 centimeters or larger.
  • You should not already have mesh placed in the midline of your abdomen.
  • Your plan should allow the abdomen to stay open at the first dressing change so mesh traction can be used.
