Treating long-term rectal injury after pelvic radiation

This Phase 3 trial tests whether a treatment called PE-Bacon can help with painful or serious late rectal problems caused by past pelvic radiation. It may help people who have ongoing rectal ulcers, strictures (narrowing), bleeding, fistulas, or other complications that have not fully improved.

Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 70 years old
  • Have had pelvic cancer (gynecology, prostate, or urinary system) diagnosed by pathology (biopsy/surgery result)
  • Finished pelvic radiation at least 6 months ago, and your original cancer has not come back or spread
  • Have a long-term rectal radiation injury with problems like deep ulcer, narrowing/blocked bowel, chronic perforation, tissue death, rectovaginal fistula, hard-to-control pain, hard-to-control bleeding, or needing colon/sigmoid removal
  • Be healthy enough for general anesthesia and routine study visits (ECOG 0–2), and be able to understand and sign consent
