Study of vaginal microbiome in HPV-related early cell changes

This study looks at the vaginal “microbiome” (the normal germs and bacteria in the vagina) in people who have had abnormal Pap smear or colposcopy results related to HPV. It may help doctors understand what to monitor and how to better identify early, pre-cancer changes in the cervix.

Who can take part
- You are between 25 and 70 years old
- You recently came to the clinic for a Pap smear or a colposcopy
- You are willing to have vaginal/cervical samples collected
- You did not take antibiotics in the 30 days before your visit
- You did not use vaginal products in the 7 days before sample collection (including antifungal medicines, spermicides, or lubricants)
- You are not currently having your period, and you are not pregnant
