Who can take part

  • You are 65 years old or older
  • You are having non-heart surgery expected to last more than 2 hours
  • Your surgery plan includes general anesthesia with a breathing tube
  • You are not having emergency surgery
  • You are not already diagnosed with pneumonia before surgery
  • You can safely take part in the nutrition and oral cleaning plan (including no allergy to chlorhexidine)
