Scan lung tissue with a PET-CT during thoracic surgery

This study tests whether a special imaging scan using a radioactive sugar (18F-FDG) can help doctors better examine lung cancer tissue during thoracic surgery. You may be offered the scan around the time of your operation to help researchers learn how well it works.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You have suspected or confirmed lung cancer (lung malignancy)
  • Your doctor plans thoracic surgery (surgery in the chest for your lung condition)
  • You are able and willing to sign informed consent and follow the study plan
  • Your blood sugar is not too high on surgery day (must be 200 mg/dL or less)
  • You are able to have the planned thoracic surgery safely (no major surgery contraindications)
