Who can take part
- You are doing IVF/ICSI (assisted reproduction), as a first-time egg recipient or you have PCOS and have not had a baby before
- If you have PCOS, you must meet at least 2 of these: long/irregular periods (over 35 days), higher male-type hormones (by symptoms or blood tests), and typical “polycystic” ovary findings or blood markers
- You must not already have high blood pressure before pregnancy (or develop new high blood pressure before 20 weeks)
- You must not have known type 1 or type 2 diabetes before pregnancy
- Your thyroid and other hormone conditions must be controlled (not clearly overactive or underactive) with treatment
- You must not have certain major health conditions (heart, kidney, lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome, severe liver problems), and you must not have had pre-eclampsia before
