This Phase 2 trial studies an after-surgery treatment for people with non-clear types of kidney cancer who are at high risk of coming back. It aims to lower the chance of recurrence by giving extra therapy after your tumor is completely removed.

Who can take part

  • Be 18–75 years old.
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of non-clear renal cell carcinoma (not clear cell, chromophobe, or eosinophilic).
  • Have had surgery to completely remove the main kidney tumor (partial or full kidney removal is allowed), and surgery must be done at least 3 weeks but no more than 12 weeks before randomization.
  • After surgery, imaging must show no visible remaining cancer; if you had metastases (M1), they must have been completely removed and you must have no evidence of disease (M1 NED).
  • Not have started any prior whole-body (systemic) cancer treatment for kidney cancer, and have enough blood counts, liver/kidney function, and heart function to safely take study drugs. (You’ll be checked with blood tests and heart scans.)
