Pre-surgery radiation options for invasive breast cancer

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have invasive breast cancer, and the cancer is judged to be at a higher stage (about T3–T4c or lymph node involvement N1–N3).
  • Your treatment plan includes a mastectomy (surgery to remove the breast) that has not happened yet.
  • You plan to have immediate reconstruction using your own tissue (a flap), not an implant only.
  • If you have HER2-positive breast cancer and had chemo before surgery, you either still have cancer found after chemo or your cancer team documents that you chose to continue despite possible risks to later medicine choices.
