Testing improved kidney repair outside the body during transplant

Kidney Transplant; Complications

Part of Kidney & urinary clinical trials.

This trial tests a machine method that keeps a donated kidney working “outside the body” so it may be better repaired before transplant. It is designed for certain first/second kidney transplants using specific donor types and storage methods.

Who can take part

  • You are getting your first or second kidney transplant
  • The donor is age 50 or older
  • The donor type is either DCD or DBD (different ways the donor organs are obtained)

Testing a new solution to improve DCD kidney transplants

This trial tests a special solution (iCM012) that is used to wash and preserve kidneys from older deceased donors (ages 55–75) before they are transplanted. The goal is to see if it helps the kidneys work better after transplant.

NCT06874296Recruiting
Testing machine perfusion for declined livers to shorten transplant wait time

This trial tests whether using a machine to keep donated livers healthy (normothermic machine perfusion) can allow more people to receive a transplant sooner. It is for patients who are already on the waiting list for a liver and have a moderately severe MELD score (25 or less).

Cold storage treatment for donated kidneys before transplant

This study tests a special cold storage solution and machine to keep donated kidneys healthy before they are transplanted. It may help the kidneys work better after surgery.

Testing Secretin to Improve Donated Liver Quality

This trial tests whether adding a hormone called secretin to a machine that preserves donated livers outside the body can improve liver quality and transplant outcomes. You may qualify if you're an adult receiving a standard deceased-donor liver transplant that needs special preservation techniques.

Kidney transplant test using machine perfusion outside the body

This study tests a special way to keep and treat a donated kidney using a machine before it’s transplanted. The goal is to improve transplant outcomes for certain people on the kidney transplant waiting list.

Kidney transplant study using machine perfusion

This study checks if pumping a special fluid through donor kidneys (machine perfusion) helps predict how well the kidney will work after transplant. It's for people getting a kidney from an older donor or one with some health issues.
