- You are 18 years or older and have cirrhosis with a sudden worsening (acute decompensation)
- You have a proven or suspected bacterial infection that needs antibiotics based on the hospital’s usual rules
- The infection is newly diagnosed—treated as not ongoing for more than 48 hours
- You are not currently in intensive care (ICU) for this illness
- You have not had a drug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infection or colonization in the last month
