Who can take part

  • You are a premenopausal woman age 40 to 45.
  • Your vitamin D level is low (about 12 to 19 ng/mL).
  • Your daily calcium intake is low (under 500 mg, based on a 24-hour food recall).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 30.
  • You are not taking hormonal replacement therapy.
  • You do not smoke and do not have certain health problems (like uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, major bone/muscle problems, heart disease, or thyroid problems).
