Who can take part
- You are female and age 18 to 70
- Your breast cancer is early-stage (stage I or II) confirmed by core needle biopsy
- You need (or choose) a full mastectomy, not breast-sparing surgery
- Your tumor is small (3 cm or less) and does not invade skin, fatty tissue, or chest wall
- Your nipple area is not involved, and the tumor is at least 2 cm away
- You are healthy enough for treatment (ECOG 0 to 2) and have no major recent heart or stroke problems
