Test a breathing check to prevent breathing tube failure in preemies

Who can take part

  • Your baby was born very early (before 32 weeks of pregnancy).
  • Your baby has been on a breathing machine through a tube for at least 48 hours.
  • Doctors say your baby is ready to try removing the breathing tube (based on breathing signs and recent machine/oxygen/blood test results).
  • Your baby successfully completes the study’s breathing trial test (SBT).
  • You (parent/legal guardian) sign consent for the study before the extubation attempt.
