Who can take part
- You are having a first-time (primary) laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair
- Your hiatal hernia is large (over 5 cm), confirmed on imaging like CT or barium/contrast swallow
- You have symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, epigastric pain, trouble swallowing, or anemia not explained by another cause
- You are age 18 or older and can give written informed consent
- You must not be having emergency surgery within 6 hours, and you should not have severe anesthesia risk (ASA score over 3)
