Testing how body position affects swallowing in infants

Who can take part

  • Be between 38 and 56 weeks after due date (post-menstrual age)
  • Your baby has been referred for an MBS (a swallow study with imaging) due to suspected swallowing trouble
  • The swallow study must show at least one episode where food or liquid goes toward or into the airway (airway invasion)
  • Your baby must be medically stable enough to safely complete the swallow study
  • Your baby must be able to hold a side-lying or upright position for at least 3 minutes
