Who can take part

  • You are between 8 and 25 years old
  • If you’re female and 11 or older (or after your first period), you must have a negative urine pregnancy test
  • For the study group: you either have a diagnosed functional gut problem or you are having one of the listed gut-related tests/procedures as part of care
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be under 35
  • A parent/guardian must be able to give permission, and you must agree if appropriate for your age
  • You must be able to lie back comfortably for the study visit and answer symptom questionnaires
