Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with moderate or severe ARDS with sudden breathing failure within 1 week of a trigger
- You are in the ICU (or similar unit) and are on a breathing machine or likely need one
- The study drug plan is within 72 hours of your ARDS diagnosis
- You must have certain breathing measurements and oxygen needs (doctors use PaO2/FiO2 and PEEP numbers)
- Your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature must be within set limits
- You must be able and willing to follow lung-protective ventilation and fluid-management plans
