Surgery approach study for early cancer in the upper stomach
Part of Cancer, Digestive system clinical trials.
This trial compares two types of laparoscopic stomach surgery for people with early upper-stomach (proximal) gastric cancer. It looks to see which approach works better while still aiming to fully remove the cancer.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You’re between 20 and 80 years old
- Your stomach cancer is in the upper part of the stomach (proximal third)
- Your biopsy shows adenocarcinoma (a specific kind of stomach cancer)
- Your cancer stage is early (stage IA or IB, such as T1N0M0 or T1N1M0/T2N0M0)
- Your surgery plan is laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy or laparoscopic total gastrectomy, and the team thinks it can fully remove the tumor (R0 surgery)
- No major stomach-area prior surgery, except laparoscopic gallbladder removal

This study checks whether a specific robotic operation (proximal gastrectomy using a double-flap technique) is safe and feasible for early stomach cancer located near the top of the stomach. It may help patients by testing a surgical approach designed to remove the cancer while managing reconstruction and recovery.
This trial compares two types of laparoscopic surgery for cancer in the upper part of the stomach. It aims to see which approach is safer and works better for patients with early-stage disease.
This trial looks at laparoscopic (keyhole) total stomach removal for people with advanced stomach cancer in the upper or middle part of the stomach. It aims to see whether this operation approach is safe and useful based on your tumor stage and overall health.
This trial compares two types of stomach-removing surgeries (total vs. partial gastrectomy) in people with a certain kind of advanced gastroesophageal junction cancer. The goal is to find out which surgery leads to better outcomes.
This study looks at a surgical technique (“dual-port laparoscopic distal gastrectomy”) for people with stomach adenocarcinoma at an early, specific stage. The goal is to remove the tumor with clean margins (called an “R0” result) and see how this approach works safely.
This trial compares two laparoscopic surgeries for early-stage stomach cancer in the upper part of the stomach. It looks at whether preserving a nerve (celiac branch of vagus nerve) during surgery leads to better recovery while still removing the cancer safely.
