This trial tests whether adding clindamycin helps treat skin and soft-tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus. You may be eligible if your infection was diagnosed recently and a sample was collected soon after hospital admission.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You have a skin infection needing drainage (cut/open or drain) and possibly antibiotics
  • A lab test from your infection sample shows Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)
  • Your symptoms started within the last 4 weeks, and the sample was taken within 48 hours of hospital admission
  • You can start study randomization within 72 hours after the first culture is collected and attend follow-up visits
  • You have not had a previous allergic reaction to clindamycin
