Who can take part

  • You must be over 18 years old
  • You have cirrhosis and have been diagnosed with SBP (spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, an infection in the belly fluid)
  • You have high-risk SBP, meaning your bilirubin (a liver marker) is over 4 mg/dL or your creatinine (a kidney marker) is over 1 mg/dL at the time of diagnosis
  • You have not taken any antibiotics (except norfloxacin for prevention) in the week before your SBP diagnosis
