Prism adaptation training after a recent stroke or brain surgery

This study tests if a simple eye-exercise technique (prism adaptation) can help people who, after a recent stroke or brain surgery, have trouble noticing one side of their world. If you qualify, you'll try this training to see if it improves your attention to the neglected side.

Who can take part

  • Had a first-time neurological event like a stroke or brain tumor surgery on one side of the brain
  • Have a brain scan (MRI or CT) showing the affected area
  • Have normal or corrected vision
  • Have a condition called unilateral spatial neglect (ignoring one side of space)
  • No history of previous brain problems or psychiatric illness
  • Must be able to understand tasks and stay focused for at least 30 minutes
