Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus that has spread to distant organs (stage IVb) or has recurred after prior treatment with surgery or radiation, as long as the recurrence is not in the previously radiated area.
- You have received 2-4 cycles of first-line chemotherapy combined with an immunotherapy drug (PD-1 inhibitor) and your cancer has responded (shrunk or stabilized) to that treatment.
- You are 18 years or older, and your overall health status is good (ECOG score 0 or 1). If you are 65 or older, you will need a special health assessment to confirm you are fit for the trial.
- You do not have any other active cancer (except for certain very low-risk types like non-malignant skin cancer or cervical carcinoma in situ).
- You have no active infection, serious heart or brain events in the past 6 months, or any condition that would make radiotherapy unsafe (like a high risk of fistula).
