Exercise effects on fear learning in PTSD

This study explores whether aerobic exercise helps people with or without PTSD better learn to overcome fear. You will do exercise and have brain scans (MRI) to see how your brain processes fear.

Who can take part

  • You have experienced interpersonal violence (like physical or sexual assault).
  • You are between 18 and 64 years old.
  • You are right-handed.
  • You do not have any metal in your body that would make an MRI unsafe (like pacemaker or shrapnel).
  • You are able to do aerobic exercise without health risks (no heart problems, asthma, or chest pain with exercise).
  • You have not started or changed psychiatric medication in the last 4 weeks (or 6 weeks for Prozac).
